What StaticForms is
StaticForms is a form backend for static sites. You point your form’s action at its submit endpoint and add a hidden apiKey field. It also has a visual form builder, paid plans that start at a few dollars a month, and an option to store form data in the EU.
What to know before you choose
- StaticForms’ free plan is “250 submissions every 30 days on one form”. Multiple forms need a paid plan.
- Custom webhooks and Slack, Telegram and Discord alerts start on the paid Starter plan.
- Google Sheets sync and the Zapier app are on Pro and above.
- On the free plan, a submission that includes a file is rejected.

What FormRill gives you
- Never lose a submission. Every submission is saved before anything is delivered, so a failed email or webhook can’t lose it. Every delivery is logged, failures email you, and failed deliveries are retried automatically for about a day, or whenever you press Retry now. Free on every plan.
- One click to email. Your first form already sends to your inbox. If your form has an email field, Reply goes straight to the visitor.
- Route it anywhere. Telegram is free. Google Sheets, WhatsApp, webhooks, n8n and your CRM are Pro features, free during the beta.
- No CAPTCHA. A hidden honeypot field catches bots and keeps them in a Spam folder, out of your inbox.
Switching from StaticForms
The change is in your form’s opening tag. Your fields stay as they are.
<form action="YOUR_STATICFORMS_ENDPOINT" method="POST">
<input type="hidden" name="apiKey" value="YOUR_API_KEY" />
<!-- your existing fields -->
</form><form action="https://api.formrill.com/YOUR_FORM_ID/submit" method="POST">
<input type="checkbox" name="botcheck" hidden />
<!-- your existing fields -->
</form>- Create a free FormRill account. Your first form is created for you and already emails your address. Copy its form URL.
- Replace the StaticForms endpoint in your form’s
actionwith the FormRill form URL. Keep your field names: FormRill stores whatever fields you send. - Remove the hidden
apiKeyinput. The FormRill form URL is the whole integration: there is no key field. - Add the hidden honeypot field:
<input type="checkbox" name="botcheck" hidden>. - Want visitors to land on your own thank-you page? Add a hidden field named
redirectwith the full URL, or set it once in the dashboard. - Send a test submission and check your inbox and the FormRill dashboard. Keep your old form for a few days, then retire it.
Questions
Do I need an API key?
No. Each FormRill form has its own unguessable URL, and that URL is all you add to your HTML.
Can I use one account for several sites?
Yes. The free plan includes unlimited forms and websites, all sharing the 500 monthly submissions.
Does FormRill support file uploads?
Not yet. File uploads are coming soon. If you need them today, StaticForms’ paid plans are the better fit.
What happens if I go past 500 submissions?
Over your limit? We keep storing every submission, email you at 80% and 100%, and give you 7 days to upgrade.
