Send form submissions to WhatsApp
Get each submission as a WhatsApp message on your phone. Before you start, know the trade-offs: you need a WhatsApp Business number and about 30 minutes in Meta’s developer console, and Meta only allows free-form messages within 24 hours of the recipient messaging your business number. For instant alerts with no setup, use Telegram instead.
Set it up
- Create a form in the FormRill dashboard. It takes one click and gives you a form URL.
- Add the WhatsApp automation. Add a WhatsApp automation and paste your phone number ID, access token and the number to notify.
- Paste the form URL into your HTML form’s
action. Submissions start flowing on the next submit.
Your form
<form method="POST"
action="https://api.formrill.com/YOUR_FORM_ID/submit">
<input type="checkbox" name="botcheck" hidden />
<input type="text" name="name" required />
<input type="email" name="email" required />
<textarea name="message" required></textarea>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>Good to know
- You need a Meta developer app with WhatsApp set up. The phone number ID and access token are on its WhatsApp API setup page.
- Meta limits free-form business messages to numbers that have messaged your business number recently. Send it a message from your own phone first, and check Meta’s current messaging rules.
One form can use several automations at once, for example email and a webhook together. Every submission is stored before any of them run.
